A funnel isn't a shape. It's a chain of decisions

“Funnel” gets drawn as a shape — wide at the top, narrow at the bottom — so often that people start optimizing the shape instead of what actually happens inside it.

Every stage of a funnel is one decision a real person has to make: trust this ad enough to click, trust this page enough to give an email, trust this email enough to book a call. Widening the top doesn’t help if the next decision the funnel asks for is harder than the reader is willing to make yet.

Fix the decision that’s actually stalling, not the shape of the diagram.
